About Me

My photo
Sarah Chao
Sarah Chao is a graduate of St. Olaf College and is currently a graduate student at University of Kansas, studying Slavic Languages and Literature. Her main interests include singing folk songs, practicing yoga, and, above all else, international travel. She has been to fourteen different countries, but has spent the bulk of the past four years living and working in Eastern Europe (Western Russia, Siberia, Georgia, and Ukraine). She also enjoys foreign languages: She speaks Russian as well as French and Georgian. Her latest adventure has brought her to the geographic center of the United States, where she spends her days reading Pushkin, discussing grammatical categories, practicing her balalaika, and creating lesson plans for her second-year course on Russian as a foreign language. Sarah dislikes being so far from the ocean, pines for Moscow sunrises, and wishes there were eight more hours in every day. Despite all this, she feels at home in Lawrence, and is happy to be in a country that understands the importance of pizza delivery and craft beer.
